Gesteins 2018 / 19
Katrin Roeber, präsentiert in ihrer Ausstellung für den Neuen Kunstverein Wuppertal zwei neue Serien, "Stein und Wolff" und "Gesteins".
In diesen setzt sie sich einerseits mit Gebirgs- bzw. Steinformationen und Farbskizzen des Schweizer Malers Caspar Wolff (1735-1783), andererseits mit der Landschaft des Neandertals auseinander, die für die Düsseldorfer Malerschule des 19. Jahrhunderts die Wiege der Landschaftsmalerei war.
Spannend war für sie, "dass die Formationen nur noch als Steinbrüche oder 'übriggebliebene' Schauwände existieren. Mich interessierte dabei, trotzdem einen monumentalen und archaischen Eindruck zu erzielen, als würden wir nicht auf Felsen, sondern in das Maul oder Auge eines Urzeitttiers blicken." (Katrin Roeber)
